The Feed Master Tool was recently showcased in a special feature on Popular Mechanics.com titled, “11 Innovative Car Tools for the DIYer With It All“.
Feed Master hosted a booth at the recent SEMA show in Las Vegas, where the editors of Popular Mechanics were impressed enough with the tool to include it in their follow-up article review of cool automotive tools.
“Split-loom wire sheaths are a good idea to protect any exposed wires, but feeding the wires through is one of those annoyingly time-consuming tasks. This simple T handle threads the wires into the sheath in seconds.” – The Editors at PopularMechanics.com

The Feed Master team almost didn’t get into the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas, but some quick planning at the last minute helped ensure that Mike & the team were not only in attendance at the show – Feed Master Inc was a full-blown exhibitor with a booth and everything.
ABOUT SEMA
SEMA is the premier trade show and exhibition for the automotive industry (specialty & after-market). Over 100,000 industry leaders were expected in attendance to the show, which is a private event, not open to the general public.
As usual when the Feed Master Tools is demo’d, the tool was a big hit among those in attendance at the show. Mike made a lot of great contacts, including several potential wholesale distribution deals that should result in more exposure for the Feed Master Tool.
If you were at the event, you might remember seeing the Feed Master booth in the Tools & Equipment section.
Universal Technical Institute (UTI) purchased over 100 Feed Master tools recently to provide to their automotive mechanic students in the classroom and also for purchase (for use on their own projects).
Here’s a little more about UTI:
Universal Technical Institute Inc. (UTI) is a nationwide provider of technical education training for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians.
We’re pleased that UTI likes the Feed Master Tool, and has decided to use the tool in it’s classes. UTI will also be selling the Feed Master tools to the students. We’re confident that the UTI automotive techs will love the tool and use it beyond their education & experiences at the institute.
In a featured post on the Impactful Products blog by Raytech Corporation, president & co-founder David Zucherman highlighted the 90-days to market success story of the Feed Master Tool.
More often than not, specifications are incomplete and need further definition during the course of a project. One notable exception was an entrepreneur named Michael Poore. His story with Raytech Corporation began when he walked in with a hand-fashioned, metal prototype wire loom feed tool that had been tested, reworked and refined for functionality over an extended period of time. All of the key dimensions were well defined, and the performance requirements were well articulated.
The article is a great story about how a dedicated and focused entrepreneur (Feed Master) can quickly get a new product developed and in front of consumers. Mike’s experience in the automotive and military fields working with split-loom tubing and cables/wires helped him quickly march forward with the prototyping and production of the Feed Master Wire Feed Tool.
Even within a well-defined project, it is normal, common, and often necessary for clients to change specifications during various stages of the design and development. Because Mike knew what he wanted and stayed with his original specifications, we were able to design the product for manufacturability, prototype the product, refine the design, help procure a tool, work through first articles and revision processes, and deliver first production parts for retail testing in under 90 days.

A Chance Encounter in Ocala, FL
Traveling cross-country promoting the Feed Master Tool, Mike Poore has had his share of chance encounters along his travels. A notable occurrence in 2009 had Mike traveling through the state of Florida, including the city of Ocala. On one of his many days of travel promoting the tool, Mike drove past the building which housed Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing.
After a bit of encouragement, Don came out to meet & speak w/ Mike and to see a demo of the revolutionary wire loom tool that is gaining popularity across the country quickly. Provided w a free tool, Mike thought he had seen the last of Don, but hoped this rare encounter would lead to additional opportunities.
50th Anniversary Winternationals in Ponoma, CA
As luck would have it, Mike’s travels to Ponoma, CA last weekend during the 50th Anniversary Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals led to a 2nd meeting w/ the famous NHRA dragster. When Mike attempted to see Don this time around, all he had to do was reference the “little green tool” and he was quickly speaking w/ Mr. Garlits once again. With praise of the tool & this 2nd encounter, Don provided Feed Master the ability to feature some information & images associated w/ “Big Daddy” Don Garlits.
The name “Big Daddy” Don Garlits is synonymous with Drag Racing. In fact, Garlits has been dubbed the “King of the Dragsters,” and could be considered the patriarch of Top Fuel Drag Racing. Don’s high school sweetheart is his wife Pat, however, his first love is the automobile, and his passion is winning. His Swamp Rat series of 34 hand fabricated black race cars carried him to 144 national event wins.
Adding to his marvelous racing accomplishments is a Florida tourist complex called Garlits Auto Museums in Ocala, FL. The Drag Racing Museum and Classic Car Collection, 17 World Championship Titles, and numerous racing milestones are all reality because Don first saw them as worthwhile dreams. Garlits’ distinct ability to conceptualize his dreams has allowed him to be master over the end result.
Don has won the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals a record 8 time. His four decades of Drag Racing have filled the pages of seven books. Although this list is not exhaustive, the facts below provide a good overview of “Big Daddy” Don Garlits’ colorful racing career.

These being the highlights, it is no wonder that Chrysler Corporation has continued sponsorship affiliation with Don for over 40 years. Today, Don and Pat make their home on the grounds of the Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum. They raised two daughters while traveling all over our nation on tour, and they now have five grandchildren.
Don currently coordinates the vehicle restorations for the museum, he is a broadcast commentator for a variety of networks, and he enjoys consulting for some Top Fuel Race Teams. Technology has driven the cost of fielding a competitive Pro Fuel Team well into the seven-figure range. The hard work ethic and personal determination is what has separated Garlits from his counterparts.
His human spirit is larger than life and his purpose keeps him young, pushing him above and beyond. Don Garlits has no comprehension of mediocrity! To prove he could still do it, during the NHRA 2001 US Nationals held during Labor day in Indianapolis IN, Big Daddy borrowed a Top Fuel Car and entered it into this prestigious event. Don qualified the car with a personal best of 303.37 MPH in 4.720 seconds!
Unbelievably, in 2002 he resurrected Swamp Rat 34 from the Museum and updated its equipment.
SR-34 then ran at the Gator Nationals, recording a speed of 323.04 MPH.
In August 2009, Feed Master attended the Army Navy Military Expo in Las Vegas to promote our feed tool. The military has a high use for the feed tool, due to all of the machinery & equipment that utilizes plastic looms for organizing & hiding wires/cables. Because of the perfect fit and his own background working on military vehicles, etc. , owner Mike Poore decided that the expo would be a great venue for showcasing his dynamic corrugated tubing wire feed tool.
Mike enjoyed the expo, including all the great people & companies he was able to meet with. The demos of the tool were a great success! Mike was even fortunate enough to be featured in the September 2009 issue of ANSOM Magazine (see inset photo below).
